You Are Never Alone

Hebrews 2:18 “Since (Christ ) himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.”

Many times in my life when I have been going through some of my toughest seasons, I have felt alone. In my mind I believed that it was not really possible for anyone to understand what it was like to….. experience being sick the way I was, abandon the way I was, the loss that I have ( you put whatever it is your “no one really knows what it’s like” here.) When we are feeling this way we long for someone who might have experienced what we are going through. We see this longing in the development of support groups. Which I believe are great resources. Most of theses groups are designed to have specific criteria to membership. Criteria that also highlight the belief that only someone who has been or is going through the same life experiences can fully understand what it’s like. We long to connect with others who can identify with what it’s like, who can give us wisdom of how to cope and move forward and where we can share some of our raw emotions that we believe only they can handle or comprehend. The truth is people can try to have empathy, and even those who have been or are going through similar life events will never be able to experience or feel them the same as we do. We are all unique, events that appear to be the exact same will bring out different responses, some may become angry, others sad and even in those emotional responses or actions will be different. So then are we right in thinking and feeling that we are alone? For those of us who have accepted Jesus ABSOLUTELY NOT!! How can I say this with absolute confidence?

The above scripture states that Christ has gone through suffering and testing, therefore He can help us. I can almost hear you saying but Jesus never………(put whatever you think He never experienced that you are right now or have) when He was on earth. Now I want you to look at your event, the one you are alone in experiencing. Can you think of it and say 1 part of your body is not going through it with you. No, when we are going through something our entire body is affected. I suffer from migraines, when I have a migraine I can not think the pain is only present in my head, not my feet so I should go for run. My migraines impact all of the what my body can do. As believers we know that Jesus is alive in us, He is part of our body, our mind and our soul. It is this truth, that also gives us the confidence that He is with us during the event we are going through and experiencing it all . He is right there with us because He is part of us. As Jesus was fully a man, born as a baby He also unlike angels or other spirit’s that can come to earth is able to recall life in body form and all of life’s hurts and joys. This truth and knowledge gives us confidence that we are never alone! He has wept, he has become angry, disappointed, had loss, been abused in human form. Just as we acknowledged earlier, when we are going through those hard storms we long to find someone who can handle the raw emotions, He can. He has also been there and has the tools that we are looking for to get us through it.

You are NEVER ALONE! Go and talk to Jesus, express you raw emotions and ask Him to help you. Pray for the tools. the strength or whatever you need to overcome the situation. He is right there with you ALWAYS.
